Matt Lauer: Yet another “journalist” who feels that his job description does not include confronting brazen liars with the obvious truth of their transparent mendacity.
Each candidate got a half hour on NBC’s “Commander-in-Chief” Forum. Though Lauer spent most of his time with Hillary Clinton obsessing about, of all things, her emails, she did manage to point out that Trump “was for the war in Iraq. He says he wasn’t. You can ― you can go back and look at the record. He supported it. He told Howard Stern he supported it.” When it was Trump’s turn, he repeated his blatant lie, and in Bizarro World Lauer cued up the excerpt from the Stern show and triumphantly called Trump’s bluff. In our actual world, though, Lauer — in a room full of Iraq war vets — uttered not a peep of protest at Trump’s continued lying to all of them.
