Trump Campaign Tries To Defuse Birther Issue, But — Oops! — Trump Won’t Cooperate So Now The Story Is Once Again Front And Center. Well Played, Sir

The Trump campaign issued a statement that he is no longer a birther, but they probably should have first checked with the candidate, who remains incapable of admitting he was wrong, let alone issuing an actual apology. What a vile human being this is.

Hours after his campaign issued a statement claiming that Trump no longer believed that President Obama is foreign-born — but that he had done “a great service to the President and the country” by forcing him to show his papers — The Washington Post published an interview in which the pathologically duplicitous candidate refused to confirm this change of mind. “I’ll answer that question at the right time,” Trump said when asked if he now believes the President is a native Hawaiian and, therefore, a legitimate President. “I just don’t want to answer it yet.” Speculation immediately began that he is waiting to spring it at the debate and blame Hillary Clinton for first raising the issue in the 2008 primaries — a false claim that one can only hope she (and moderator Lester Holt) will shove back down his throat along with the thousands of other blatant lies this worst presidential candidate ever has been allowed to get away with.
